- WELLS, MARJORIE LUCRETIA PAUL (1914~) Marjorie Lucretia Paul Wells was born September 2, 1914, in Weatherford, Texas to Fields Carter and Bessie Paul. After moving with her family to Corsicana, Miss Paul graduated from Corsicana High School in 1932. While in Corsicana, she met, and later marred, fellow Corsicana High School graduate, Joe Kelton Wells. After their marriage, the Wells moved to Austin, where he was serving in the Texas House of Representatives. Later, Mrs. Wells worked as a supervisor in the Proof Reading Department of the Texas House of Representatives and was a Charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Charter Member Austin Lawyer's Wives Club and Member of Daughters of the Nile. Mrs. Wells passed away, at age 88, on Friday, October 25, 2002, and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery two days later. Marjorie Paul Wells, age 88, of Austin, born in Weatherford, Texas, on September 2, 1914, passed away Friday, October 25, 2002. She moved to Corsicana, Texas, in 1918. Graduated from Corsicana High School in 1932. In 1935 she married Joe Kelton Wells, Member of the Legislature. She is survived by her husband, Joe K. Wells; son, Joe K. Wells Jr. and wife, Mary Margaret of Austin; grandchildren, Jennifer Kay Childers and husband, Cecil of Corpus Christi; Dr. Joe K. Wells, III and wife, Becky of Austin; John Barcus Wells and wife, Debra of Austin; great- grandchildren, Caroline and Sarah Wells, Claire and Benjamin Childers, Samuel Wells and Jacob and Brittany Rocha. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Paul. She was a Charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Charter Member Austin Lawyer's Wives Club and Member of Daughters of the Nile. Pallbearers will be David A. Curry, G. William Fowler, Cecil Childers, John Barcus Wells, Dr. Joe K. Wells, III, James R. White and Charles Walden. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Stone, Alfred Tramp, John Sheffield, and Harry Balagia. Serving as honorary pallbearer is Cecil Nobles. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2002, in the Colonial Chapel of Cook-Walden Funeral Home, Reverend Roy Sherrod officiating. Interment will follow at State Cemetery in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Burn Institute, or Guide Dogs of Texas. [1]
