- Funeral services for Dan Lee Martin, 57, of 330 West Twelfth, a Texas school administrator more than twenty years, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Wesley Methodist Church, 2431 South Marsalis.
The Rev. Boyd I. DeVore will officiate. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Martin, who died in a Dallas hospital Tuesday, was superintendent of public schools at Bowie, Montague County, for fifteen years. He later served for eight years as superintendent of schools at Cleveland, Liberty County.
Martin was a graduate of Sam Houston State Teachers College at Huntsville. He held a Master’s degree from the University of Texas.
Martin retired from teaching six years ago and lived in Houston until he moved to Dallas three months ago.
Martin had been active in Rotary Clubs in both Bowie and in Cleveland. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and of the Methodist Church.
Martin is survived by his wife; a son, Dan Lee Martin Jr. of Houston; his stepmother, Mrs. Nora Martin of Vernon; four brothers, Roy B. Martin of Paul Valley, Okla..; Joe A Martin of Vernon, William J. Martin of Houston and James D. Martin of Joshua, Johnson County and two grandchildren.
