Captain Burleson died instantly after being shot twice by Mr. Foltz, a German, seven miles from Lockhart. After the shooting Foltz gave himself up.
Captain Burleson was married to Eleanor E. Baughn. He was the son of General Edward Burleson and Sarah G. Owens. During the Civil War Captain Burleson was a member of the 36th Texas Cavalry led by Colonel Peter C. Woods.
