- Franklin (Parks) Burke was born to parents John Franklin and Judie Ann Parker Burke May 25, 1905. He was always called Parks, and was raised around the Redtown Community.
He was the grandson of John and Cynthia Faith Bennett Parker of Elkhart, Anderson Co. Texas and also the grandson of Jasper and Martha "Mattie" Robinson Burke of the Alderbranch Community, (out of Elkhart) Anderson Co., Texas.
He was the g-grandson of Elder Ben and Irena Douthit Parker; Miles and Laura Jordon Bennett all of Elkhart, Anderson County, Texas.
He was also the g-grandson of Joseph Hudson and Elizabeth Anderson Burk of the Alderbranch Community, Anderson Co., Texas.
Married Minnie Lee Walling probably 1925.
Their children were;
1. Horace Reagan b. 1926
2. Dorthey Wayne b. Aug. 5, 1928 d. April 17, 1929 (died from Diptheria at 8 mo. old)
3. Billie Sue b. 1931
4. Johnny Parks b. 1935
They also raised a niece of Minnie Lee, after the death of Christine Franklin, her sister.
5. Earnestine Franklin b. 1944
Parks was a farmer in Anderson and Hill Counties until WWII.
He worked in the Houston Shipyards building Liberty ships during the war. After the war he worked as a carpenter in
Houston and his last employment was in a maintenance position
in an upholstery company in Houston.
He was very much loved by his children, grandchildren,
Burke and Walling families. [1]
