      Final rites for John L. Darden,
      74, of Purdon, were held
      Sunday at 2 p. m. from the
      First Baptist church In Purdon
      with Rev. Clifton Nauert, pastor,
      In charge. Burial was In
      the Younger cemetery.
      Darden died in Memorial Hospital Friday morning.

      Native of Mississippi, Darden had resided at Purdon 70 years
      He was a retired Cotton Belt System railroad employee.
      Surviving are his wife of Purdon, a son, J. Weldon (Cotton)
      Darden, Fort Worth; three daughters, Miss Lucille Darden
      Purdon; Mrs. C. S. Taylor,Dawson, and Mrs. Melva Gunn,
      Carrollton; seven grandchildren, two brothers, George Darden
      Purdon, and L. E. Darden. Waco; two sisters, Mrs. Cora
      Ellis and Mrs. Paul Schultz both of Purdon, and other relatives.
      Pallbearers were Andrew York Jr.; Maurice Darden, Nelson El-
      Us, Ellis Owen, Grant Lake and Buddy Kennemore, nephews,
      Corley directed.
